A Note From The Director (Kasimir Burgess)
Lily is based on a series of paintings by Julia Ciccarone. The collaboration with this celebrated artist is an unusual and exciting experiment. The thick dreamy atmosphere and narrative drama in Julia's paintings provide inspiration for a story that can embark from reality and explore a realm that is heightened, beautiful and unsettling. There is something unheimlich about the landscapes in which Julia's painted characters exist; the elemental power of nature offers the potential for both redemption and destruction. Lily is our second film collaboration, 67 the exploration of a woman's escape nightmare, was our first.

It was produced in collaboration with Director Kasimir Burgess (awarded the 2010 Young Australian Filmmaker) who also co-wrote the film with me. Click to view the Lily film trailer
